Lane Breaking the Guinness World Record

Today we went out to Kenneth Copeland Ministries Airport to watch Lane break the Guinness World Record for the fastest speed on a towed skateboard. They had to do several practice runs to find the smoothest location on the runway. We were all scared to death when Lane had to unhook the harness. Our hearts sank when the board went flying out from under his feet, but luckily he was able to hang on until the car stopped. Lane got back on the board and had his first successful run at 80.5 mph. In order to set the record, Lane needed to complete a successful run in the opposite direction. He sped by at 75.7 mph, which gave him an average of 78.1 mph. He beat the previous 74-mile-per-hour record (2008) held by Danny Way for the MTV show Rob Dyrdek’s Fantasy Factory.

Lane is the founder of Stalk It Skateboards. Stalk It Skateboards are made with Corn Board, a substance made from corn stover (the remaining leaves and stalks from a corn harvest). We were thrilled at the end of the day that Lane not only walked away uninjured, but we were extremely impressed that the skateboard on had a few scuffs. It definitely shows the pure strength and durability of the board!
